HEADACHES AND CHIROPRACTIC

Headaches can be debilitating, especially if they’re frequent or severe. Here at Top Chiro, we understand how headaches can affect your everyday life, hence why we’re dedicated to providing headache solutions in Milton Keynes and the surrounding areas to help you live your best life.

WHAT CAUSES HEADACHES?

When it comes to pain caused by headaches, it can either be a dull, manageable pain or an incredibly uncomfortable experience. In some of the most severe cases, a headache might even have the ability to affect how we think and reduce focus and concentration levels. As experienced chiropractors in Milton Keynes, we are concerned with imbalances in the muscles structural and also the skeleton. Any issues found are likely to be as a result of poor posture or even neurological imbalances.

The majority of us will experience several headaches throughout our lifetime, it’s somewhat inevitable at some point or another. However, the problem does come when we start to have headaches on a regular basis, regardless of its severity. In this case, it’s important to have your condition examined by a chiropractor, like those here at Top Chiro.

It’s important to note, however, that it’s not considered to be normal if multiple headaches are experienced when the patient is perfectly healthy and in a balanced state. As headaches have the ability to greatly impact our brain performance and, subsequently, decision-making process, it’s even more important that we take steps to be headache-free with long-lasting results and you’ll get that with chiropractic headache treatment.

HOW HEADACHES CAN BE DIAGNOSED?

Headaches are relatively straightforward to self-diagnose. We will all recognise when we’re having one and it’s often easy for us to try and treat it ourselves, at home, using over-the-counter remedies. But it’s important that, if we experience them on a regular basis, we get down to the root cause of the problem. That is why we carry out an in-depth initial chiropractic assessment.

The process will start by way of a discussion with our patients. Here, we will note down the most important details regarding medical and family history. A full postural examination will then be carried out in order to measure weight distribution as this could affect posture. Pictures will also be taken to determine how far away from an optimum position you may be.

If required we may have to take an X-ray of your spine and other areas that may have been causing your headaches. This allows us to meticulously look at those images to identify anything structural and ensure it is safe to work on your spine. We can also manually palpate and test affected joints in order to assess your spinal health.

In addition to that, inflammation levels are carefully measured and monitored throughout your care plan, so that areas of the body that are struggling can be identified accordingly.

With our experience, we’ll analyse and combine the data received from the aforementioned tests to get to the root cause of your problems. Our findings will then be discussed with you in a follow-up appointment and we will give you a plan of management to solve your problem.

What's The Best Exercise For Headaches?

There are several exercises and stretches that your dedicated chiropractor will recommend to their patients. If you have any questions, please feel free to discuss them with your designated chiropractor here at Top Chiro. If you haven’t yet undergone an initial examination, you will need to book this first. Meanwhile, you should refrain from doing any exercise until your condition improves.

Should I Be Concerned About My Headaches?

If you don’t normally have headaches and they’ve occurred very suddenly or after a head trauma, then you should contact your GP. Alternatively, depending on the severity of the situation, you should call 111 for medical advice or 999 if it’s an absolute emergency.
